4 Construction Workers in Cavite Got Buried Due to Landslide

A landslide in Barangay Iruhin West, Tagaytay City left one worker dead, another injured, and two still missing.

On Thursday morning (July 24, 2025), a tragic landslide struck a construction site in Cavite, which buries four construction workers. The incident happened along the boundary of Tagaytay and Silang, Cavite, according to Tagaytay City Mayor Brent Tolentino.

According to initial reports from the Tagaytay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the landslide occurred shortly after 10:00 a.m. and buried the barracks where the workers were staying.

“So the incident happened sa boundary ng Silang at Tagaytay. ‘Yung gumuho po is from Silang side at ‘yung naguhuan po is Tagaytay side. Ang kinagalingan po ng guho ay Barangay Cabangaan, Silang,” Tolentino said.

One of the workers was rescued and immediately brought to the hospital, where he is now in stable condition and recovering. The lifeless body of one victim was later found by the K9 unit of the Philippine Coast Guard, while the search for the two remaining missing workers continues.

As of this writing, authorities have not released the identities of the victims.

Edgar Soria, a fellow construction worker, shared that he was away from the barracks at the time of the incident, along with his two children, preparing food. He only realized what had happened when he returned and saw the destruction.

The families of the missing workers have chosen not to speak to the media, likely still processing the shock and grief from the incident.

Due to worsening weather conditions, search and rescue efforts were temporarily halted at midnight for safety reasons. Authorities resume to the operations on Friday morning.
