PNP Chief Torre Starts Training for Possible Boxing Match w/ Baste Duterte

PNP Chief Torre Trains for Possible Boxing Match Against Davao City Vice Mayor Baste Duterte

PNP chief Torre starts training for his possible boxing match with Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte.

PNP Chief General Nicolas Torre III is now training in preparation for the much-talked-about fistfight challenge involving Baste Duterte. The heated exchange between the two began after Baste reportedly said that Torre was only brave because of his position, prompting a back-and-forth that led to a boxing challenge.

Instead of brushing it off, General Torre responded with a bold idea. Since the country is currently dealing with the aftermath of typhoons and flooding, he suggested turning the match into a charity boxing event.

Torre proposed that the fight be held this coming Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Araneta Coliseum. The idea is to raise funds to help those affected by recent disasters.

On Thursday, July 24, 2025, a video of Gen. Torre practicing at the PNP gym in Camp Crame, Quezon City has been making rounds online. Wearing training gear, the PNP chief looked serious as he went through his boxing routine.

Meanwhile, a separate video also surfaced showing Vice Mayor Baste Duterte doing his own boxing training. His punches and footwork suggest that he is equally preparing for the possible face-off.

Although both sides appear to be gearing up, there is still no official confirmation whether the boxing match will push through on Sunday. Supporters of both men and the general public are now waiting for the challenge to turn into an actual event.

As of this writing, all eyes are on whether this clash of public figures will end up helping those in need.
