Elderly Woman in Parañaque Hopes to See Her Family One Last Time

Elderly Woman at Evacuation Center in Parañaque Wish to See Her Family One Last Time

HEARTBREAKING WISH – An elderly woman in Parañaque is hoping to see her family one last time before it’s too late.

In the middle of strong monsoon rains and flooding in Parañaque, one elderly woman’s quiet wish is reaching hearts.

An 86-year-old Marieta De Asis Tiria who stays at the San Dionisio Sports Complex evacuation center due to strong monsoon rains and flooding in Parañaque touches many hearts for her heartfelt plead.

Elderly Woman

The elderly woman and her neighbor, Donna Fausto, were rescued from rising floods in Sitio San Antonio, Olivarez Compound in Barangay San Dionisio. Tiria is battling diabetes and an open wound on her chest.

The senior citizen can no longer walk and had to crawl just to seek help from Donna, who has known her since 2009.

Donna shared that it hurt to see how some neighbors treated Tiria poorly, just because she received a small pension. Many avoided her, saying she smelled bad or was a burden. But Donna chose to stay by her side, saying that no one should be left behind, especially someone already suffering.

Despite trying to contact Tiria’s relatives, including a niece in Cavite and her children and siblings from Pangasinan, Donna has received no response. Tiria’s health is now declining, and she can no longer speak clearly.

Marieta can only communicate through gestures. Her greatest hope is to see her daughter, Maricel Pangilinan, and her sisters, Hilda, Veronica, and Celia one last time.

According to the San Dionisio Fire and Rescue Department, health workers have already checked on Tiria and are preparing to bring her to a hospital for better care.

For those who may know her family or wish to help, they are encouraged to reach out to the San Dionisio Sports Complex or the local barangay hall.
