“Great family, great family legacy, and highly respected in his country. I know that because I have many friends in the Philippines. There’s great respect or I couldn’t say it, so congratulations,” Trump said.

Based on the report, aside from the praises for Pres. Bongbong Marcos, U.S. Pres. Donald Trump also spoke criticisms against the previous administration in the Philippines. While he did not directly name as to which admin he is referring to, he claimed that the previous admin in PH allegedly does not get along with anyone.

“I think I can say that the last administration was not getting along with them too well. They didn’t get along with anybody. Honestly, they didn’t know what they’re doing,” U.S. Pres. Donald Trump said.

Rodrigo Duterte

It can be recalled that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte has previously threatened about the Philippines’ withdrawal from its Mutual Defense Treaty with the United States. His remarks came after the U.S. revoked the visa of Duterte-ally Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. He is faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity for the drug war of his admin. According to his daughter, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, former Pres. Duterte is ready to support and campaign for her if she runs in the 2028 Elections.

The younger Duterte was the running mate of Marcos Jr. in the 2022 Elections but their relationship has turned sour. The Duterte camp also believes that the Marcos admin allegedly has a role in the arrest and the transfer of the custody of the former President to the foreign entity.
