61-Year-Old Man Lost His Life After MRI Accident
A 61-year-old man lost his life after he was pulled into an MRI machine during a medical scan in Westbury, New York.
On July 16, 2025 (Wednesday), Keith McAllister, the victim, accompanied his wife Adrienne, who was undergoing an MRI scan for her knee at the Nassau Open MRI facility. At one point, Adrienne asked a technician to call Keith to help her get off the scanning table.
Keith was wearing a heavy metal chain around his neck, a 20-pound necklace that he normally wears for weight training. Unfortunately, the powerful magnetic force of the MRI machine reacted to the metal and pulled him toward it with great force.

As soon as he entered the room, Keith was suddenly sucked into the machine. His wife and the MRI technician tried to pull him away from the machine but were unable to free him. According to Adrienne, the technician dropped the ball.
Witnesses said his body went limp right after the incident, and emergency services were quickly called. Despite efforts to revive him, Keith was pronounced dead shortly after.
“He waved goodbye to me and then his whole body went limp,” Adrienne said.

MRI machines use extremely strong magnets to create detailed images of the body, and it is standard safety procedure to ensure no metal is present in the room during scans. Even small objects like coins or jewelry can become dangerous inside the MRI area.
The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols in medical facilities and how such accidents can be prevented. Keith’s sudden death left his wife and loved ones in sorrow.
Authorities are now looking into what happened and whether proper safety measures were followed at the time. As of this writing, the investigation is still ongoing.
