Metro Manila Flood Due To Severe Tropical Storm Crising

Due to continuous rain, Metro Manila is now flooded due to Crising PH.

METRO MANILA FLOOD – Severe Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon bring heavy rains, causing floods.

Based on the latest from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the Severe Tropical Storm Crising is still being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). While moving away from the Philippines’ landmass, it maintains its strength, enhancing the southwest monsoon.

Based on the update from PAGASA, Crising was spotted 345 km West of Itbayat, Batanes at 4 PM while moving west-northwestward at 20 km/h. The Southwest Monsoon is bringing strong to gale-force gusts in several areas, including Metro Manila today.

Due to the continuous pour of rain, large parts of Luzon were drenched. The pour began early morning of Saturday and flooded several areas in the metro. There are gutter-deep floods along Taft Avenue, particularly near United Nations Avenue, San Marcelino Street, and Ayala Boulevard. The waters are estimated to be 8 inches deep.

Some riders even waited for several minutes to pass flooded areas, waiting for the water to subside to pass safely. Drivers also took another path, skipping España Boulevard near Antipolo Street and E. Quintos Sr. Street, to avoid the flood waters.

In G. Araneta Avenue in Quezon City, the area was also drenched, and at 6 AM in  Waling-Waling Street in Roxas District, the waters had reached above chest level.

The habagat intensified the Crising is the primary cause of heavy rains that caused flooding that drenched Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, and the Negros Island Region.

In a previous article, the worst-hit area in Negros Occidental is Hinigaran, where thousands were also displaced and affected by massive rising flood waters. 1,094 families or 4,229 persons were affected in Hinigaran, and 550 families or 1,571 individuals, and 419 families or 1,714 persons were affected in Sipalay City and Kabankalan City, respectively.
