Single Mom Working as Online Seller in Davao del Norte Allegedly Killed Out of Jealousy
A single mom who worked as an online seller in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, was allegedly killed out of jealousy.
Jealousy is an emotion people feel when they fear losing something important to them, like attention, love, or affection, usually to someone else.
In relationships, jealousy often comes up when a person feels insecure or threatened, especially if they think someone else might take the place they hold in someone’s life. For example, a person might feel jealous if their partner becomes close to someone else.

Recently, a 26-year-old woman identified as Seannen Gellangarin, was shot three times in the back inside her rented apartment in Barangay Madaum during the early hours of Wednesday (July 16, 2025). She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Seannen known as a hardworking single mom and an online seller. She was also the daughter of the current president of the Tagum City Chamber of Commerce.
According to police reports, a witness saw a man forcing his way into Seannen’s apartment. Moments later, multiple gunshots were heard.

Following a quick investigation, authorities arrested the suspect at an inn in Panabo City. He was found with a handgun and several sachets of suspected illegal drugs.
The suspect, a 49-year-old man identified as “Joji,” claimed he had been supporting Seannen despite not being in an official relationship with her. He admitted feeling jealous after learning she had drinks with three male friends in her apartment, which allegedly triggered the violent act.
He is currently under the custody of Panabo police and is facing multiple charges, including murder and violations related to firearms and illegal drugs.
Seannen’s untimely death has left her family mourning, especially as she was known for her dedication as a mother.
