PAGASA Says Habagat and LPA to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon and a low-pressure area will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (July 16, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The habagat and a low-pressure area will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA Weather Specialist Loriedin De la Cruz-Galicia reported that a low-pressure area was last located 975 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon.

The sky will be cloudy and there is a high chance of rain in most parts of the country due to the LPA and the southwest monsoon,” Galicia said.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. It has a chance of developing into a tropical depression and will be named Crising once it becomes a storm.

“Sa kasalukuyan itong LPA ay nakaka-apekto na po at nagdudulot ng mga pag-ulan sa Bicol Region, sa Eastern Visayas, maging dito po sa Dinagat Islands at Surigao del Norte. Kaya’t pinag-iingat natin ang ating mga kababayan doon sa banta ng mga pagbaha dahil sa mga ulan nadala o dulot nitong low pressure area,” she explained.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Zambales, Bataan, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.

Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions across the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA
