Press Officer of Malacañang Complies w/ Order of New PCO Boss
Malacañang press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro submitted her courtesy resignation as part of the revamp of the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Dave Gomez is now the acting secretary of the Presidential Communications Office. He recently directed all the political appointees at the office to file their courtesy resignations on or before July 18. These appointees includes Atty. Claire Castro.

Malacañang press undersecretary Claire Castro who recently spoke about the rating of the budget report of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office by the Commission on Audit (COA) was vocal in the different pressing issues in the country. Amid the usual silence of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, she has constantly spoken in behalf of the Chief Executive.
Castro was also involved in several instances of an exchange of fiery statements with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte amid her rift with Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The Palace official has earned both support and criticisms from the members of the online community.

Recently, following the order of PCO acting secretary Dave Gomez in lieu of the revamping of the office, Malacañang press undersecretary Claire Castro tendered her courtesy resignation. Based on a report on Inquirer, she acknowledged that the move will give Gomez the freedom to choose his own people.

“This will give [Gomez] the leeway to choose the people he wants to work with at the PCO. Of course, it is better if he is familiar with the people with whom he will be working with,” the Malacañang official said.
Based on the report, in the memorandum released to direct the courtesy resignation of all political appointees, it was stated that the PCO officials must continue to report to the office until the PCO acting secretary has taken any action. Thus, Malacañang press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro remains the PCO Usec unless Gomez accepts her resignation.
Aside from Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the Malacañang press officer was also involved in an exchange of tirades with former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s lawyer, Nicholas Kaufman.
