Sen. Raffy Tulfo Speaks on Vote for Senate Presidency
RAFFY TULFO – The Senator revealed that he will support Senate President Chiz Escudero for the top post in the chamber in the 20th Congress.
Several senators and incoming lawmakers in the Senate have expressed their vote for the Senate presidency in the 20th Congress. Currently, there are two (2) names who are expected to be raised for the Senate presidency — Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero and incoming Sen. Tito Sotto.

Both Escudero and Sotto have announced their openness to lead the upper chamber in the 20th Congress. Sen. Migz Zubiri previously announced that the “veterans bloc” will support incoming Sen. Tito Sotto for the Senate presidency.
Amid the claim of Sen. Joel Villanueva that at least 13 senators allegedly back the current leadership, incoming Sen. Erwin Tulfo claimed that he will support Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero because he came from the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago. He also revealed the vote of his brother, Sen. Raffy Tulfo.

According to incoming Sen. Erwin Tulfo, he and his brother, Sen. Raffy Tulfo, both support the leadership of Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero. Recently, the elder Tulfo broke his silence on the matter.

Based on a report on GMA News, Sen. Raffy Tulfo confirmed the claim of incoming Sen. Erwin Tulfo that they support Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero. He shared that his younger brother who will be a first-time senator actually called him.
“Actually Erwin consulted me, sabi niya, ‘Kuya saan ba tayo?’ And then I said, ‘Ako ay kay Chiz, now it’s up to you, hindi kita pwedeng diktahan kung sinong gusto mo.’ Sabi niya, ‘Kung kay Chiz ka, sige.’ And then sinabi ko sa kanya ang dahilan at nakita niya magandang reason ang binigay ko sa kanya, kaya sumangayon siya sa’kin,” he said.

According to Sen. Raffy Tulfo, he and Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero have the same work ethics and he sees no problem with the current leadership in the Senate. He also claimed that his vote for Escudero came with nothing in exchange for it.
“Sabi nga nila, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” Tulfo said.
Based on the report, Sen. Raffy Tulfo also acknowledged that he and incoming Sen. Tito Sotto have yet to work together in the Senate. Thus, he has no idea about his work ethics nor leadership while he has already experienced Escudero’s.
Previously, Sen. JV Ejercito claimed that he is torn between Escudero and Sotto. He had passed key measures during the term of Sotto as Senate President during the 18th Congress and the same happened under the term of Escudero. He is also currently the Senate Deputy Majority Leader.
Amid being torn, Sen. JV Ejercito said he will vote for Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero amid his gratitude for incoming Sen. Tito Sotto.
