Pet Owner Expresses Grief After Dog Gets Hit by Pickup Truck

A pet owner is seeking justice after his beloved pet dog was run over by a pickup truck along Bonifacio Avenue in Cainta, Rizal.

Last Saturday morning (July 8, 2025), a fur parent is asking for accountability after his beloved dog gets hit by a pickup truck in Barangay San Andres, Cainta, Rizal.

According to CCTV footage, two white dogs were seen crossing the street when a pickup truck suddenly passed by. Unfortunately, one of the dogs was hit. What made things worse was that the driver didn’t stop after the accident.

The dog’s owner, John Vincent Tupas, said the dog that died was named Tofu, a mixed breed of Siberian Husky and Japanese Spitz.

Tupas shared that they had placed the dogs temporarily in a cage while cleaning the kitchen. But when his father opened the door to fix something on the roof of the cage, the dogs managed to escape and ran toward the road. Just moments later, Tofu was hit.

“Temporarily namin nilagay sa kulungan yung dogs kasi naglilinis kami ng kusina namin. Then may inaayos yung dad ko doon sa bubung ng kulungan. Pagbukas niya ng pinto, nakatakbo yung dalawang aso na nakakulung doon. So nakatakbo sila palabas papunta sa… nagtakbuhan sila sa kalsada. Hindi huminto yung pickup,” Tupas said.

Tofu suffered serious injuries to the head and body, which led to his immediate death. The family has already reported the incident to their barangay. They also plan to ask the police for help in identifying the driver, as the vehicle’s plate number was not clear in the video.

Tupas emphasized that Tofu was more than just a pet, he was part of their family. What they’re hoping for now is to have some kind of closure. They are appealing to the person who hit Tofu to reach out to them and take responsibility.
