CCTV Catches Riders Stealing Goats in Iloilo

CCTV Captures Group of Riders Stealing Goats From Small Farm in Iloilo

THEFT INCIDENT – A group of riders in Iloilo was caught on camera stealing two goats from a small farm in Oton, Iloilo.

Livestock theft is the act of stealing farm animals such as cows, goats, pigs, chickens, or sheep. These animals are considered valuable property because many farmers rely on them for their livelihood, either for food, income, or both.

When someone illegally takes animals from a farm, pasture, or enclosure without the owner’s permission, it is treated as theft or robbery, just like stealing money or goods. Livestock theft is a serious problem, especially in rural areas, because it can cause big financial losses for farmers and small business owners.

Riders

Recently, several motorcycle riders were caught on CCTV stealing two goats from a small farm in Iloilo, while another man was arrested in Pototan for stealing three goats worth P21,000.

In Barangay Abilay Norte, Oton, CCTV footage showed several motorcycles passing through a road before stopping near a fenced area. A few of the riders got off and entered the goat enclosure.

After a few moments, they were seen walking back with two goats in tow before speeding off on their motorcycles. The owner of the goats, however, chose not to report the theft to the police.

Meanwhile, a separate incident happened in Barangay San Vicente, Leganes, Pototan. A man was caught in the act of stealing three goats. Thanks to quick action, the goats recovered and returned to their owner.

The suspect, who refused to make a statement, is now facing theft charges.

The incidents raised concern among local residents, especially farmers who rely on their animals for livelihood.

While one case ended without police involvement, the arrest in Pototan reminds the public that livestock theft remains a serious issue in rural communities.

Authorities are urging the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. For many small farmers, every animal counts and losing even one can mean a major problem.
