PH has asked for Japan’s technical assistance for the missing sabungeros case.
34 people and more in the missing sabungeros case are in Taal Lake, and the country has asked for Japan’s help to search for any human remains.
Whistleblower “Totoy” stands by his allegation that businessman Charlie “Atong” Ang is the mastermind behind the mysterious disappearance of several cockfighting enthusiasts. It has been four years already since the disappearance of 34 people was reported, and according to the witness, they were thrown into Taal Lake, and it was feared that there are over a hundred of them buried deep in the lake waters.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed to spare no one, no matter how powerful the involved individuals were, just to ensure justice. This vow came after the recent developments regarding the case, in which several well-known personalities were alleged to be deeply involved. Through a palace official, the government vowed that there would be accountability following a thorough investigation.
Recently, Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla asked for the help of Japan to search for dozens of cockfighting participants allegedly killed and thrown into the lake. Previously, the DOJ secretary expressed that technical divers are eyed to look for them on the lake bed, and on Friday, he asked for Japan’s technical assistance.
“I just signed a letter for the Japanese government asking for assistance to enable us to do a lakebed mapping and… other technology that we need,” Remulla said, and added, “We need a scientific approach here. We cannot leave it to chance.”
Taal Lake is located south and is the home to the active Taal Volcano. It spans over 230 square kilometres (89 square miles) with a depth of 172 metres (564 feet) in some places.
