Actress-socialite Gretchen Barretto was identified in the missing sabungeros case and is now urged to testify against Atong Ang.
The cockfighting enthusiasts who went missing four years ago have not been found. There were 34 reported, but it is feared that there were over a hundred who were abducted, killed, and thrown into the Taal Lake.
Atong Ang and Gretchen Barretto are tagged in the case of missing sabungeros. Ang was pointed out as the mastermind, and Barretto was also mentioned by the whistleblower, who was also one of the accused.
In a previous article, Ang and Barretto were considered among the suspects because they were identified. Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said, “Mapapasama sila kasi nga pinangalanan sila, then we will have to include them as suspects.”
The whistleblower, Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, alias Totoy, appealed to Barretto to testify against Ang. According to Patodingan, they were always together, and she definitely knows all his secrets.
Patidongan used to be Ang’s farm manager and right-hand man in his cockfighting ventures. He urged Barretto to help him and to help him expose the truth.
Meanwhile, Ang denied the accusations. He is accordingly not involved in any of the things he was accused of and will sue the whistleblowers who tagged him. He stepped forward, saying, “Masyado na kaming kawawa kaya kailangan ko nang lumabas. Tingnan ninyo lahat ng sinasabi niya [Patidongan], may mga pulitiko, may mga artista pa, kung anu-ano. Pero walang kriminal sa amin. Yun lang ang masasabi ko diyan.”
Ang will file charges against the whistleblowers, and these charges include robbery, grave threats, grave coercions, slander, at incriminating innocent people. His camp stressed that the claims were “entirely false, baseless, and malicious.”
