Drunk Motorcycle Rider Dies After Falling Into Large Road Hole in Cotabato
A drunk motorcycle rider in Makilala, Cotabato, has lost his life after he reportedly fell into a large hole in the road late at night.
Recently, a drunk motorcycle rider passed away after falling into a large hold in Cotabato. The incident garnered various reactions from the online community.
The victim was said to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident. According to a reports, the crash happened in Barangay Poblacion. CCTV footage showed the rider speeding straight ahead, swerving past two warning signs placed on the road.
Unable to stop in time, the motorcycle slammed into barriers before plunging into a deep hole filled with water.
Rescue teams arrived shortly after the incident was reported. It took about 30 minutes before the rider’s body recovered from the pit. His motorcycle was also found nearby, damaged from the impact.
Authorities confirmed that the rider had been drinking before the accident. The road where the incident happened is part of an ongoing construction project managed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XII.
The large hole was left open, with only a few road signs and barriers serving as warnings for approaching vehicles.
The incident raised concerns from locals, especially about the safety measures around road projects. Many believe that additional lights, clearer signs, or proper barricades could help prevent such accidents, especially during nighttime when visibility is low.
Family members and residents are grieving the sudden loss, while some are also questioning if the site was properly secured. As of now, the DPWH has yet to release an official statement regarding the accident.
