Five Parrots Separated After Learning to Curse at Zoo Visitors

Five parrots at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in eastern England were separated after cursing at zoo visitors.

The story of five parrots who were separated for cursing at people is making rounds online once more. It first made headlines back in 2020 when these birds were placed under the care of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in eastern England.

The parrots named Billy, Elsie, Eric, Jade, and Tyson were donated to the park in August 2020. They came from different owners but arrived at the wildlife park around the same time. During their initial stay, they were kept together in a quarantine area along with other African grey parrots.

After just a few days, the staff started to notice something strange and funny. The five parrots began mimicking curse words and would often blurt them out when visitors or staff walked by. According to the park, their favorite phrase was “f*#k off.”

Although many visitors found the birds hilarious and no official complaints were made, the staff grew concerned about young guests who might overhear the foul language. It turns out that parrots, especially African greys, are incredibly quick learners and were picking up the bad words from each other and possibly even their previous owners.

The wildlife park decided to separate the five talkative birds and remove them from public display. This was done not as punishment, but to help them calm down and also prevent them from teaching other parrots the same language.

As of July 2, 2025, the park confirmed that Billy, Elsie, Eric, Jade, and Tyson are still under their care. They now live peacefully within an aviary with other African grey parrots, hopefully using friendlier words this time.
