Statement of Malacañang on Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ Stand over K-12 Program
Malacañang clarified that President Bongbong Marcos is not against the K-12 program in the educational field in the Philippines.
It was in 2018 when the first batch of students under the K-12 program graduated. However, until now when it is already more than five (5) years since the educational curriculum was first implemented, many people are still in doubts over its effectiveness in honing students that are fit for the field of work.

Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed his frustration over the Senior High School Curriculum saying it allegedly has “no advantage”. According to the Chief Executive, it became an additional financial burden to the parents with the added two (2) years in high school.
Marcos Jr. also stressed that the K-12 graduates are also allegedly not hired for work. According to him, he shares the same frustration with Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada over the educational curriculum in the country.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, he ordered Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara to enhance the K-12 program while it remains a law in the country. The education Secretary acknowledged the lapses in the implementation of the said curriculum.

Recently, Malacañang clarified the stand of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the K-12 program. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Palace press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro clarified that the President is not against the educational curriculum.
According to Castro, what the President was saying was that the K-12 program did not immediately become effective because the agencies were not prepared for it. The Malacañang official also stressed that it is now being improved under the lead of DepEd Sec. Angara.
“Okay. Gusto po nating liwanagin ito. Hindi po niya sinasabi na tutol siya sa K-12. Ang sinabi lang po niya ay hindi naging epektibo agad dahil hindi nai-prepare ang mga ahensiya para dito. At ngayon po sa pamamagitan din po ni Secretary Angara, ini-improve po ito,” Castro said.
Based on the report, the Malacañang official stressed that while the K-12 is a law, Pres. Bongbong Marcos will continue to support it for the students. She reiterated that the President is not against it.
“Hangga’t nandiyan po ang batas para sa K-12 ito po ay susuportahan at palalawigin at pag-iibayuhin nang maayos para sa ating mga estudyante,” the Malacañang official said.
