OCTA Research Conducts Survey over “PH Rejoin ICC” Issue To Determine Public Perception

PH REJOIN ICC – The results of the OCTA survey showed that majority of the Filipinos support the Philippines rejoining the International Criminal Court.

Previously, Malacañang press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said that President Bongbong Marcos is open to discussions about the Philippines rejoining the ICC. The statement of the Palace came amid former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte being detained under the custody of the foreign court.

Duterte is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity before the ICC over his administration’s war on drugs. The former President is detained inside the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands for more than 100 days now.

Following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte last March 11, Pres. Bongbong Marcos and the Philippine government earned massive criticisms for acting on the arrest. The Palace defended the Chief Executive saying that the government only acted on its commitment with the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
