DOJ Secretary Boying Remulla Speaks on Plan to Submit Application for Ombudsman
DOJ SECRETARY – Department of Justice chief Boying Remulla confirmed that he will apply for Ombudsman to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC).
Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously ordered his Cabinet secretaries for a courtesy resignation. It is in line with the performance check as he wants to align the government to the demands of the Filipino people. The Chief Executive believes that the results of the 2025 Elections showed that the people are disappointed by the services of the government.

The courtesy resignation call of Marcos Jr. was met by immediate responses from his Cabinet secretaries. Most of them immediately tendered their courtesy resignation and the Malacañang assured that Marcos Jr. will act swiftly on the resignations.
The Palace also assured the public that the order of the President will not affect the delivery of services to the people. In his latest podcast, the Chief Executive confirmed that it will be a continuing performance check of the government officials under his lead.

One of his Cabinet members who were retained by Pres. Bongbong Marcos in his position was DOJ Secretary Boying Remulla. However, based on a recent report, the Justice Secretary is set to apply for another position in the government.

Based on a report on GMA News, DOJ Secretary Boying Remulla is set to make an application for Ombudsman. According to the Justice Secretary, he will submit his application to the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) before Friday.
“I think I have a lot to offer there,” Remulla said.
The deadline for the submission of the online applications is July 4 as per the Judicial and Bar Council. The Office of the Ombudsman is the one handling the complaints filed against high-ranking officials in the government.
Recently, the Ombudsman confirmed its investigation of the Confidential Funds of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The Vice President was impeached by the House of Representatives last February 5 but the trial has yet to push through until now after the Senate impeachment court returned the Articles of Impeachment to the lower chamber.
The Vice President’s father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is currently detained under the custody of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands. DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla is one of the government officials that presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos asked the Ombudsman to investigate over Duterte’s arrest.
Sen. Imee Marcos previously submitted the findings of her investigation on Duterte’s arrest to the Ombudsman. According to her, she believes that the office is not biased.
