Malacañang Hits Back at VP Sara Duterte’s “Photo Op” Remarks vs. Pres. Bongbong Marcos

Malacañang reminded Vice President Sara Duterte of the presence of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte during the destruction of drugs.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos recently announced that the government pushes for a “bloodless war” against drugs. According to the Chief Executive, the campaign against the illegal substance will continue but it will be in a different way.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos explained that under the current government’s anti-drugs campaign, there will be no killings of people suspected to be involved in the trade or use of the illegal substance. He also stressed that the government will boost prevention as well as rehabilitation.

Furthermore, the Chief Executive vowed not only to going after the big ones in the drug problem of the country but as well as solve the cases in the streets. He wanted the police visibility and patrols increased so the people will feel safe.

However, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte criticized the order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos for an increase police patrols to fight criminality. According to her, the Chief Executive should be thinking about how to modernize and make use of the products of technology like robots, CCTVs, and drones.

Duterte said the Philippines is allegedly living in the 1970s and the 1980s under the order to increase police patrols in the streets. She also slammed the photos of Marcos Jr. during the incineration of illegal drugs.

According to the Vice President, it is not the job of the President for a photo op. Malacañang reacted to the tirades of the Vice President against the Chief Executive when he witnessed the destruction of illegal drugs in the province of Tarlac.

Based on a report on GMA News, Malacañang press undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro reminded Vice Pres. Sara Duterte that her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, was also present in the same event during his term as the chief executive of the country.

The Malacañang official showed a media report about then-Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte witnessing the destruction of P7.51 billion worth of illegal drugs in Cavite in 2020. In Tarlac, Pres. Marcos watched the incineration of P9,484,134,038.62 worth of illegal substance. It was held at the Clean Leaf International Corporation in the city of Capas.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte asked where the P16 trillion debt of the Philippines go. Malacañang hit back at the Vice President by citing the Duterte admin.
