Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office even recently claimed that she will skip Marcos Jr.’s 4th SONA (State of the Nation Address). If it happens, it will be the second time that she will be absent in the annual address as she also skipped the 3rd SONA of the President.

The Office of the Vice President did not explain the reason behind the absence of Duterte in the upcoming SONA of Marcos Jr. on July 28. Meanwhile, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said they will still prepare a seat and a holding room for the Vice President in case she changes her mind.

Previously, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed he is open to reconcile with the Duterte family. Then, the Dutertes were mum on the pronouncement of the Chief Executive. It was known Duterte ally, Senator Bato dela Rosa, who challenged the President to drive away the alleged investigators of the International Criminal Court if he is really sincere with his statement.

Marcos Jr. stressed that reconciliation should not come with conditions. Otherwise, it will be a demand. The President has repeatedly stressed that he is against Duterte’s impeachment but the Vice President and her camp believe that the Marcos administration allegedly want to oust her from office.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the reconciliation remark of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President spoke during an interview on the sidelines of a rally in Australia.

According to the Vice President, she has no ill feelings against Pres. Marcos over the alleged “political persecution” to her. She stressed that it is part of a politician’s reality.

“I have no ill feelings with him with regard to the political persecution that I am receiving from the administration because that is part of the life of a politician,” the Vice President said.

On the other side, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte admitted that she has a problem with the performance of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on the report, she also claimed that she has problems with Marcos Jr.’s alleged violation of the Constitution.

“I have problems with his performance as president and I have problems with the violations of our fundamental law, our Constitution, particularly with the rendition of former president Duterte. That was really an affront to Philippine sovereignty,” Duterte said.

Based on the report, Vice Pres. Duterte claimed she has not received any request for a meeting with Pres. Marcos to patch things up. Amid the ongoing impeachment process against Vice Pres. Duterte, Pres. Marcos insisted he has no role.
