Teachers Brave Crosses Flooded River in Sarangani
A group of teachers braved a flooded river in Malapatan, Sarangani, just to get home after teaching students in the area.
A teacher is someone who helps others learn. Teachers guide students by sharing knowledge, explaining ideas, and helping them develop skills. They can teach many subjects like reading, math, science, or values, and they work in schools, classrooms, or sometimes even in homes or communities.
But being a teacher is more than just giving lessons. Teachers also encourage, support, and inspire students. They help children grow, not just academically, but also emotionally and socially.

Recently, Teacher Jailene Tusan shared a video of a group of dedicated teachers crossing a flooded river just to get home. The post went viral and garnered various reactions from the online community.
The incident happened in Sitio Banlas, Barangay Kihan, where teachers from Akbual Elementary School had to face the strong current due to the absence of a bridge.
Local residents stepped in to help, guiding the teachers through the dangerous waters. Despite the risk, they remained calm and focused on getting back safely.
This is not the first time these teachers faced such challenges. Every day, they hike for hours and, during bad weather, brave swollen rivers just to reach their students. Their commitment goes beyond teaching inside classrooms, it includes long walks, river crossings, and enduring difficult terrain, all to make sure education reaches children in remote areas.
While netizens admired the courage and dedication of the teachers, they also expressed concern over the lack of proper infrastructure in the area. Calls for safer paths, including bridges and roads, echoed across social media as people hoped for long-term solutions.

The video has a caption:
“Mag swimming napud sa baha ang mga maestra sa bukid welcome sa Akbual IP School inig ting ulan”
