Oil Price Hike to Take Effect on June 17, 2025 (Tuesday), DOE Says

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – The Department of Energy is expecting an oil price hike starting next week.

Drivers should prepare for another increase in fuel prices next week, with petroleum products expected to go up by more than one peso per liter.

On Tuesday (June 17, 2025), various gasoline stations in the country are set to implement an increase on fuel prices. The global oil market trends continue to influence local pump prices.

Forecasts show that gasoline prices could rise between P0.90 and P1.40 per liter. Diesel and kerosene are also set to increase by around P1.00 to P1.40 and P1.00 to P1.20 per liter, respectively.

These estimates are based on the recent trading performance of imported oil in the global market.

The continued increase in prices is being linked to several global developments. Oil prices have climbed due to improved trade expectations between the United States and China, as well as the ongoing delay in nuclear talks between the US and Iran.

On top of that, OPEC has projected that the demand for oil will continue to grow for the next few decades. Tensions between Russia and Ukraine have also added pressure to the supply and pricing of fuel worldwide.

In the Philippines, fuel companies usually announce price adjustments every Monday, with the new rates implemented the following day. Earlier this week, prices already went up by P0.60 for gasoline, P0.95 for diesel, and P0.30 for kerosene.

Meanwhile, Meralco has encouraged low-income households, especially those in the 4Ps program, to take advantage of its lifeline rate program. Those who consume 100 kWh or less per month may receive discounts on their electricity bills.
