6 Men Caught Stealing P198,000 Worth of Cables in Caloocan

Caloocan Authorities Arrest 6 Men for Stealing P198,000 Worth of Cables

Six men were arrested for allegedly stealing internet cables worth P198,000 from a telecommunications company.

On early Wednesday morning (June 11, 2025), the suspects were arrested stealing internet cables worth P198,000 from a telecommunications company in Barangay 71, Caloocan City.

According to the police, they quickly responded to a report from a concerned resident about a group of men seen cutting cables inside a drainage along Rizal Avenue. When authorities arrived, they found the suspects loading around 45 pieces of cut cables into delivery vehicles.

The police also recovered tools used in the theft, including two bolt cutters and a rope.

Among those arrested was a 16-year-old boy. He was taken to a youth center for children in conflict with the law. The two drivers of the delivery vehicles were also arrested and taken into custody.

One of the drivers said he didn’t know what was happening and insisted he was just doing his job to support his family. Some of the suspects claimed they were hired by a stranger and were only told to help carry the cables in exchange for up to P500.

The suspect admitted knowing the act was illegal but said they gave in due to financial problems. They also said they didn’t know each other before that day.

The police are now investigating if the same group is connected to a previous cable theft incident that happened in April in the same area. Authorities believe this might not be their first time, as the suspects appeared skilled in cutting and removing the cables.

All suspects are now under the custody of Caloocan Police Sub Station 3 and will face charges of theft and violating the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
