15 Buses Elicit Criticisms After Being Caught Racing on Cagayan Highway
A video of 15 buses racing along the Cagayan National Highway quickly went viral online and elicited comments from the netizens.
Recently, Carlo Carbonel, a Facebook user, shared a video of 15 buses racing along the Cagayan National Highway. The video immediately circulated on social media and garnered various reactions from the online community.
The buses, all belonging to GV Florida Transport, were seen speeding and overtaking each other like they were on a racetrack. The incident happened on a Sunday (June 8, 2025) along the busy highway in Cagayan.

The vehicles were servicing routes from Sta. Ana, Cagayan to Sampaloc, Manila, and from Baguio to Apayao.
In the video, the buses appeared to be rushing to get ahead of one another, with some even switching lanes in a dangerous manner. While there were no reported accidents or injuries, many people online pointed out how risky and irresponsible the act was, especially since these buses carry passengers.
Despite apologies and explanations from the bus company and the drivers involved, the Department of Transportation, led by Secretary Vince Dizon, did not accept their excuses. Officials stressed that the safety of passengers and other motorists must come first.
The drivers involved in the highway race have been given a 90-day suspension. The bus company’s franchise for the vehicles caught in the video has also been suspended for one month.
Authorities reminded all public transport operators to follow road safety rules at all times. Racing on public roads not only puts lives at risk but also damages the trust of passengers who rely on buses to travel safely.
