PAGASA Says LPA and Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that LPA and habagat will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Tuesday (June 10, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A low-pressure area and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported that the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rain showers over Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

A tropical depression is 600 kilometers west-southwest of Bacnotan, La Union, or 535 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The tropical cyclone has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour with gustiness of up to 55 kph and is moving southwestward at 20 kph.

This is outside PAR, so we have not given it a local name,” Dominguez said.

“We are also not ruling out the possibility that it may reenter PAR. But if it does, it will not have any direct impact on any part of our country,” she added.

The southwest monsoon will bring occasional rains to Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Visayas, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, and the rest of Central Luzon and Mimaropa.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Mindanao.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.

“Let’s expect occasional rains in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro. We expect the eastern section of northern Luzon to experience clear weather. But we also expect a high chance of localized thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening,” she added.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas will be moderate to rough. Slight to moderate waters is expected over Northern and Central Luzon, as well as the remaining parts of the country, according to PAGASA.
