LTO to Summon Two Bus Companies Over Racing Incident
The Land Transportation Office has issued show cause orders to two bus companies over an alleged racing incident.
The buses were spotted racing on public roads. The companies involved are JAC Liner Inc. and Del Monte Motor Works Incorporated. The action was taken following an initial investigation that pointed to unsafe and careless driving by the buses’ drivers.
According to the LTO, the viral videos showed the buses switching lanes repeatedly and driving aggressively without proper signals. The behavior created danger not only for the passengers inside the buses but also for other motorists sharing the road.

Authorities said such actions could easily lead to serious accidents, especially on busy highways where many vehicles are present.
Under the leadership of LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao, the agency stressed that reckless driving and road racing will not be tolerated. Public transport companies carry a heavy responsibility to make sure their drivers are well trained, disciplined, and respectful of traffic rules.
When drivers fail to meet these standards, the safety of everyone on the road is put at risk. The drivers involved have been ordered to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division in Quezon City on January 16 at 1 p.m.

They are required to submit sworn statements and documents explaining their actions. The bus companies must also explain why they should not face administrative charges for allowing such behavior.
While the investigation is ongoing, the two buses have been placed under alarm status. The drivers involved have also been suspended for 90 days. They were instructed to surrender their licenses immediately after receiving the show cause orders.
The LTO warned that failure to attend the hearing or submit the required explanations will be treated as giving up the right to be heard. The agency will decide based on the evidence already on record.
