Huge Python Spotted Coming Down From Bathroom’s Ceiling in Tacloban
A huge python surprised and scared a family after dropping from their home’s ceiling in Tacloban City.
On Sunday (June 8, 2025), a family living in Barangay 109-A, Tacloban City, got quite a scare when a large snake appeared inside their home. The reptile, identified as a reticulated python, was seen slowly coming down from the bathroom ceiling, causing panic among the family members.
As soon as the snake was spotted, the family quickly called for help from their neighbors. Together, they worked to safely remove the snake, which took around 15 minutes. The python was found to be about one meter long and appeared to be weak.
It’s believed that the snake was trying to escape the heat in the ceiling area and was looking for a cooler spot, which is why it started heading toward the bathroom. High temperatures often drive snakes and other animals to look for more comfortable places, especially during the warmer months.
Fortunately, the situation was handled without harm to anyone or the animal. After being rescued, the python was set to be turned over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), where it will be safely released or properly cared for.
Authorities once again reminded the public that catching or harming wild animals like pythons is strictly prohibited. These creatures are protected by law because many of them are at risk of disappearing due to loss of habitat and illegal hunting.
The authorities said that the best way to respond during these circumstances is to stay calm and report the sighting to local officials or animal rescue groups.
