Anne Curtis was used in this deepfake video
Viva Artist Agency, the talent management company handling Kapamilya actress-host Anne Curtis, warned the public against this deepfake video.
In the age of social media, people can be closer even miles away. It is easier to communicate now online than decades ago. The online world is being used for various purposes, especially in the entertainment industry.
A person’s popularity online can be equivalent to the success of famous people in different fields. The popularity of celebrities is also being amplified on social media and their online followings. These are just among the many advantages of social media.

However, celebrities and popular personalities are also being used for bad motives on social media created by people who want to take advantage of other people’s fame and make use of gullible internet users.
Viva found out that one of their priced talents, Anne Curtis was being used in a deepfake video, based on the article in GMA Entertainment.
The techtarger.com explained deepfake as “a type of artificial intelligence used to create convincing fake images, videos, and audio recordings.” It transforms existing source content and a person is being swapped for another. In some instances, it makes the public believe that someone said or done something that they did not say or do.

With this, Viva Artist Agency released a statement. “It has come to our attention that a certain Facebook page is using the image of one of our artists, Anne Curtis-Smith, illegally without any authority whatsoever,” VAA said.
The talent management company stressed that the Kapamilya celebrity is not connected to the Facebook page that used her identity.
“The video is a DEEPFAKE, a product of AI (Artificial Intelligence), and was made without consent of Anne nor of Viva,” the talent management company highlighted.
VAA also stressed that the company did not condone such acts. It added that people who were involved in this will face civil and criminal liabilities. “We urge the public to be vigilant and discerning of online scams and illegal uses of AI to mislead and spread fake information,” Anne’s agency said.
