Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes recalled their ‘Mara Clara’ days
Prominent actresses Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes shared their dream reunion project.
Juday and Gladys first worked together when they were just teenagers. That was in the hit 90s drama series Mara Clara. In the series, Juday played the protagonist Mara while the antagonist Clara was portrayed by Gladys.
Despite their roles being in conflict, they became friends in real life. Until now, they remained good friends.
In a recent interview, based on the article in ABS-CBN Entertainment, Gladys Reyes and Judy Ann Santos shared what they want to do in their reunion project. They wanted to switch roles.
“Matagal ko ng sinasabi kay Juday ‘to, sabi ko ‘Jud, gawin na natin ‘to.’ Iniisip ko for a change baliktad naman kami. ‘Yung ganun,” Gladys shared. She added that in real life, Juday was the one who could slap harder because she was much smaller.
Then, Juday recalled the days when they were doing the Mara Clara series. The wife of Eat Bulaga host Ryan Agoncillo revealed that Gladys really had that amazing aura when she was acting.
“‘Yung aura ni Gladys ‘pag umacting na ‘yan, liliit ka, mas liliit ka pa sa kanya. ‘Yung energy niya as an actor and ‘yung pag pumasok siya sa character, matatakot ka talaga sa kanya,” Juday said.
Gladys also recalled that she and Juday would not talk about or rehearse a certain scene and they just knew what they had to do. There was a time when they had their fight scene, they had bruises and cuts after but when the director said, “cut,” there was no issue at all.
Gladys Reyes said that now, it is different, actors have fight directors. During their time, they just do it on their own. She added that this was maybe the reason why viewers loved their series because their scenes were natural.
