Rachel Gupta Resigns As Miss Grand International 2024, Will PH’s CJ Opiaza Replace Her?

Miss Grand International 2024 Rachel Gupta lets go of the title.

Miss Grand International 2024 Rachel Gupta resigns. Does this mean first runner-up CJ Opiaza of the Philippines will replace her?

Recently, the Miss Grand International Organization announced the termination of Rachel Gupta as Miss Grand International 2024, “effective immediately.” To recall, India’s Gupta earned the title last year in the international pageant held at theย MGI Hall in Bangkok, Thailand.

The other winners were:

  • 1st runner-up:ย Miss Grand Philippines Christine Juliane โ€œCJโ€ Opiaza
  • 2nd runner-up:ย Miss Grand Myanmar Thae Su Nyein
  • 3rd runner-up:ย Miss Grand Franceย Safiรฉtou Kabengele
  • 4th runner-up:ย Miss Grand Brazilย Talita Hartmann

According to the organization, the termination followed after she failed to “fulfill her assigned duties, engagement in external projects without prior approval from the organization, and her refusal to participate in the scheduled trip to Guatemala.”

It also requested that the crown be returned within 30 days. Gupta alsoย confirmed that she has stepped down, and expressed that it was a decisionย “not made lightly.”

Does this mean first runner-up CJ Opiaza of the Philippines will replace her?

With Gupta no longer the MGI 2024, it is now anticipated that Opiazaย will be hailed as the newย 2024ย winner to replace the former winner. If this happens, this is going to be the first-ever MGI crown of the Philippines.

No statement has been issued regarding this matter yet. Will the rule about the reigningย queen being unable to fulfill her duties for any reason, the first runner-up takes her place, be applied?

As much as we all know, the MGI crown has always been elusive to Pinay representatives. To recall, Nicole Cordoves and Samantha Bernado also finished as first runners-up in 2016 and 2020, respectively.
