Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Impeachment Trial
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Chief Executive reiterated his stand on the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte amid their ongoing feud.
Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero recently said there is a higher level of preparation for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial. The impeachment court is set to convene this June 3 while Duterte is in The Hague for a scheduled visit to former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Amid his previous pronouncement that an impeachment trial will only tie up the Senate and the House of Representatives, Pres. Bongbong Marcos and his administration are accused of wanting to remove Vice Pres. Sara Duterte from her position. His son, Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos, was one of the lawmakers who signed the impeachment rap of the Vice President.
It is no secret to the public that Marcos Jr. and Duterte have an ongoing feud. The issue was even triggered following the controversial arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte who is currently detained in The Hague under the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Vice Pres. Duterte was previously in The Hague for more than three (3) weeks to finalize the ICC legal team of her father. According to her, her legal team for her impeachment trial was already set before the turn of events last March 11.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed that her lawyers are “more than confident” to win the impeachment trial. According to her, her confidence is in her legal team and she has already accepted whatever will be the outcome of the trial.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was once again asked about the impending impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the press had a chance to ask the President in Kuala Lumpur.
“How many times do I have to say that? I didn’t want impeachment. Lahat ng kakampi ko sa Kongreso hindi nag-file ng impeachment complaint,” Marcos Jr. claimed.
The President further stressed that those people who filed an impeachment complaint against the Vice President are individuals whom he cannot control. According to him, it is now up to the Senate and the members of the House on the proceedings.

“‘Yung mga nag-file ng impeachment complaint, hindi mo masasabing kaya kong utusan o pagsabihan na ito ‘yung gagawin mo. So, why do I have to keep explaining that I didn’t want impeachment?” he expressed.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos said that the decision on the impeachment trial is on the Senators and the House. According to him, he thinks they have yet to decide and it depends between the two Houses how the proceedings will be conducted.
Recently, reelected Sen. Bato dela Rosa expressed his confidence that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will be acquitted in the impeachment trial.
