Nadine Lustre: Groups Express Support For Actress Who Filed Complaint

Kapamilya actress Nadine Lustre takes legal action, and groups have backed her.

Previously, Kapamilya actress Nadine Lustre took legal action against online criticisms, and these groups backed her move.

In a previous article, Nadine Lustre filed a complaint for violation of the Safe Spaces Act amid the “relentless and malicious attacks” against her on social media. Lustre filed a complaint after she was subjected to immense bashing for speaking out about her political views and stance during the midterm polls.

To recall, Nadine supported the ML Party list in the 2025 elections and was featured in the campaign video. However, she accordingly did not receive any pay for this endorsement.

The actress is yet to make a statement as of this writing, but as early as now, she already has the support of many, with others hoping that this move will also inspire others in a similar situation as hers to file a complaint as well.

Leila De Lima expressed her support for the actress on behalf of the ML Party List. She maintained that while people are free to exercise their right to freedom of expression, what is not right is using it against truth, dignity, and democracy.

“We support Nadine. Her case is a stand for truth and accountability. Make no mistake: we will push back against this kind of behaviour. Hindi ito katanggap-tanggap. Hindi ito dapat palampasin,” she expressed.

Gabriela Women’s Party also lauded the actress for her courage in standing up. Gabriela Rep. Arlene Brosas said that this highlights the alarming reality of women who were immediately thrown out to criticisms for speaking about political and social issues with the intention of silencing them.

She added that the case of Lustre is part of a “broader pattern of online violence aimed at politically active women.”

“Ang pag-atake sa kababaihan tulad ni Nadine ay hindi isolated case. Ito ay bahagi ng sistemang patriyarkal na gustong patahimikin ang mga kababaihan, lalo na kapag nagpapahayag sila ng kanilang opinyon sa pulitika,” Brosas said.
