Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Erring Officials of Gov’t

BONGBONG MARCOS – The President admitted his belief that fear is possibly more effective than respect on handling erring officials.

Apart from Pres. Marcos’ recent speeches to the graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) wherein he encouraged love and service for the country, the Chief Executive recently spoke about erring government officials.

Referring to some government officials’ alleged disobedience and misconduct because of his kindness, he stressed that he wants to be respected but fear could be better.

“I want to be respected but maybe fear is better,” Marcos Jr. said.

Furthermore, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also stressed that being stricter is needed to get past delays in the long-term projects of the government. However, according to the President, his personality is really as he is.

“Many people tell me that. So what am I supposed to do? Become a bad person? I can’t change my nature anymore,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pres. Marcos stressed that it is really necessary to be tougher because things need to be more efficient and the process faster. According to him, the first thing he did was order the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to boost the police visibility in the areas where safety and security are a concern.

“I told them there should always be police officers visible and patrolling on foot. Because over time, people get to recognize them,” the President claimed.

Now that the 2025 Elections are over, Pres. Marcos has repeatedly stressed that it is time for the officials to return to work. He has extended his hand to the winners of the elections regardless of their political colors.

Amid an ongoing feud with the Vice President, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also claimed that he is open to reconcile with the Duterte family. To recall, the President earned criticisms for allegedly allowing the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the transfer of his custody to The Hague. Marcos Jr. previously defended that the government had to act on its commitment with the International Crime Police Organization (Interpol).
