Newly proclaimed Senator Camille Villar promised to work “twice as hard” as she officially enters the upper chamber of Congress.
“I stand here incredibly honored and humbled by this opportunity. I’m grateful to God that we had a peaceful elections with a very good results. And today with all humility, tinatanggap ko po ang responsibilidad na ito at karangalang ito,” newly elected Senator Camille Villar said tearfully during the proclamation of winner on Thursday, May 17.
She was in the 10th spot in the final rankings of the senatorial race of the Halalan 2025 with 13,651,274 votes. She was the solon of Las Piñasin in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2022, serving two terms, and this is going to be her first time as a member of the Congress’ upper chamber.
During the midterm polls, she ran under the Nacionalista Party advocating for education and to help micro and small enterprises.
In her speech during the proclamation in a ceremony at the Manila Hotel, she promised to work “twice as hard,” “stand twice as firm,” and serve with all her heart and show leadership.
She also recalled the moment when she told her father, former Sen. Manny Villar, that she wanted to be like him, serving and helping as many people as she could. She added, “Thank you for helping me achieve my dreams and making my dreams come true.”
The 12 senators proclaimed as winners of the midterm polls are:
