On early Tuesday morning (May 13, 2025), an 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed along Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Adrian Cagayao, is a criminology student and a varsity basketball player from Barangay Granada.

The victim, Hikaru “Yuri” Legaste, was from Barangay Efegenio Lizares in Talisay City. According to authorities, a fight broke out between the two young men before the stabbing occurred. During the altercation, Adrian allegedly stabbed Yuri in the chest, causing his death.

After the incident, Adrian fled the scene out of fear. However, he later surrendered voluntarily to the Bacolod City Police Office Director, accompanied by his father and a barangay official. He was then turned over to Police Station 3, where the case is now being handled.

Investigators believe the suspect was under the influence of alcohol when the crime happened. They are currently looking into all angles of the case. Adrian is now facing a homicide charge and is expected to present his side during the trial.
