Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero To Wear Red Robe for VP Sara Duterte’s Impeachment Trial

CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Senate President showed the robe that he will use for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.

Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that her lawyers are “more than confident” to win the impeachment trial against her. According to her, her confidence lies on her legal team. She claimed that she is ready whatever will be the outcome of the impeachment trial.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero has turned down several calls for an immediate start of Duterte’s impeachment trial. On the other side, amid the detention of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, he stressed that the impeachment trial will push through.

On his refusal to immediately start the trial, Escudero claimed that the Senate follows an approved legislative calendar. He also cited that the Senate session is on break. He proposed July 30 as the start of the impeachment trial of the Vice President.

Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero allowed Sen. Koko Pimentel to help draft the rules for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to the Vice President, her legal team is set even before the March 11 arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte.

Recently, Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero showed to the reporters the robe that he will use in the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a post of Inquirer, the Senate chief will use a red robe.

Currently, there are still no update as to when the impeachment trial will start. Ahead of it, Malacañang has recently reiterated that Pres. Bongbong Marcos won’t meddle with the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to Palace press undersecretary Claire Castro, the Malacañang just hopes that the senators will fulfill their job to the people and to the country and not for one person only.

Recently, incoming Akbayan Representative Atty. Chel Diokno and Mamamayang Liberal (ML) party-list first nominee Leila de Lima have said ‘yes’ to joining the prosecutors’ team in the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Duterte.
