Fake Volunteer IDs Given to 3 Voters in Baguio

3 Voters Received Fake Volunteer in Baguio

Three voters in Baguio City were surprised after receiving fake volunteer IDs from a party-list group running in the upcoming 2025 elections.

One of them, lawyer and citizen reporter Krishia Evangelista, shared that someone came to her house on May 8, 2025, claiming to be from their barangay. The visitor handed her an ID that looked official but turned out to be suspicious.

The ID showed the name and logo of the Solid North Party-list, along with the word “volunteer.” On the back, it included Krishia’s full name, complete address, and a QR code. When scanned, the QR code revealed her birthday and other codes she didn’t recognize.

Krishia clarified that she never signed up as a volunteer for this group and never gave permission for her personal information to be used. She said she was alarmed, especially since she is involved in non-partisan volunteer work for COMELEC’s Oplan Kontra Bigay and the Voter’s Assistance Desk on election day.

These projects are in partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines in Baguio-Benguet.

The female voter encouraged anyone who receives similar IDs or experiences any form of vote buying to report it immediately to COMELEC.

Two more voters, Nhel Nichol Armas and Zinnia Biag, also received fake volunteer IDs with their personal details. Like Krishia, they were shocked and upset because they never signed up as volunteers for the said party-list. They were angry that their private information was used without permission.

The incident has raised serious concerns about voter privacy and election-related misinformation.
