College Student Dragged & Robbed by Rider in Quezon City
A 25-year-old college student was injured after being dragged along EDSA and robbed of her cellphone by a motorcycle rider in Quezon City.
Robbery is a crime where someone takes something valuable, like money or property, from another person by using force, threats, or intimidation. It usually happens in person and involves scaring or hurting someone to steal from them.
Recently, a female college student suffered injuries after being robbed by a motorcycle rider. The incident garnered various reactions from the online community.

The student, Janine Balanza, met with a man she had spoken to online. They agreed to meet on April 20 at a mall in North Avenue, where she intended to sell her cellphone for P19,800. The money was supposed to help pay for her tuition in her final semester of college.
However, the situation changed when the buyer, who arrived on a motorcycle, asked her to hop on so they could withdraw the payment from a nearby ATM. Trusting the situation, Janine agreed, but soon felt uneasy.
Balanza attempted to get off, sensing something was wrong. However, her clothes or belongings got caught on the motorcycle. The rider sped off, dragging her several meters along EDSA’s southbound lane.
The video showed Janine being pulled by the fast-moving motorcycle for a few minutes before finally falling off. She was left injured on the road while the suspect fled with her phone.
Janine’s phone, which she was selling to cover school expenses, was stolen, and she also suffered injuries from the dragging. The traumatic incident raised concern among netizens and shows the dangers of face-to-face meetups with strangers arranged online.
Authorities are now investigating the case, and the public is urged to remain cautious and only meet in safe, public places with security when dealing with online transactions.
