Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Confirms P20 per Kilo Rice Campaign Promise of Pres. Bongbong Marcos Doable
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President said she does not want to share her knowledge on how the P20 per kilo rice can be achieved as she does not want to help Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture program that sells rice at P20 per kilo is temporarily halted due to the upcoming May 2025 Elections. Meanwhile, the DA assured that the selling of the affordable rice will resume on May 13.
In fact, the Agriculture department said that the P20 per kilo rice will be available not only in Visayas but as well as 32 areas in Luzon. The recent announcements of the department were met with different reactions.
However, as for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, she previously expressed doubts on the intention behind the P20 per kilo rice sale in Visayas. According to the Vice President, there might allegedly be a problem with the votes in the region, thus, it is only available in Visayas although it is also a need in Luzon and Mindanao.
Vice Pres. Duterte also emphasized that the P20 per kilo rice must be fit for human consumption. According to the Vice President, the rice that is usually sold at this price is used in feeding pigs.
The Agriculture department who admitted they were “deeply hurt” by Duterte’s statements held a media conference about the NFA rice to be sold at P20 per kilo. The officials of the DA even cooked and ate the cheap rice as they vouch for its quality.
Recently, based on a report of UNTV, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke anew on the P20 per kilo rice which was a campaign promise of Pres. Bongbong Marcos in 2022. According to the Vice President, it is impossible but it is doable.
Duterte claimed that she has talked to some people and she knows that it can be done. However, according to the Vice President, she does not want to share her knowledge on how to achieve it as she does not want to help Pres. Marcos.
“Impossible talaga ang bente pesos na bigas pero pwede siya hindi ko lang i-share sa inyo kasi ayokong tulungan si BBM,” Duterte said.
The DA halted the selling of the P20 per kilo rice to avoid it from being accused of allegedly being election-related. Previously, Malacañang stressed there is no politics in the P20 per kilo rice sale in Visayas.
