Revillame is running as an independent candidate, and amid his efforts during the campaign period, his mother, Myrna Buendia, died. She passed away on April 1, and he silently grieved the loss.
According to reports, he chose to keep his silence about the matter so as not to bother the people. For eight years, his mother was bedridden due to an aneurysm, and during that time, she was with him in his home.
He is the eldest of their family, and his mother was just 14 years old when she gave birth to him. Her remains were cremated on April 4, the birthday of his father, Engineer Honorio Revillame.
He stopped campaigning during the wake and continued on April 9. May 10 will be the last day of the campaign, and at the same time, the 40th day of his mother’s death. On May 24, his mother was supposed to celebrate her 80th birthday.
