ALLAN PETER CAYETANO PLATFORMS – Here are the accomplishments of Allan Peter Cayetano and the things he promises to do if he gets elected as Senator in the May 2022 Elections.

Alan Peter Schramm Cayetano is an incumbent lawmaker in the House of Representatives. He has served in both chambers of Congress for over 2 decades.

The lawmaker unsuccessfully ran for vice president in the 2016 elections as Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s running mate. He is not part of any Senate slate for the 2022 polls but has been endorsed by Duterte.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND

Allan Peter Cayetano was born to and raised in a political family. His father was the late former senator Rene Cayetano;  his older sister Pia Cayetano is an incumbent senator while his younger brother Lino Cayetano is the mayor of Taguig. His wife, Lani Cayetano, is currently the representative for the 2nd district of Taguig in the House of Representatives.

He completed both his elementary and secondary education at the De La Salle Santiago Zobel School. In 1997, he finished his law degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He studied Political Science at UP and graduated in 1993.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Allan Peter Cayetano was elected vice mayor of Taguig in 1995 and served for one term. He then became Taguig-Pateros rep from 1995 to 2007. Allan won 2 Senate races in 2007 and 2013.

After a failed VP bid in 2016, Allan was appointed by Digong as secretary of foreign affairs in May 2017. He served in top posts in the executive and legislative branches of government. He also led the preparations of the 2019 SEA Games as Chairman of the Philippine Sea Games Organizational Committee (PHISGOC).

PLATFORMS

  • Economic Federalism

Urged the national government to prioritize rural development by way of directing Build, Build, Build program to focus on energy infrastructure in the countryside to spur economic development

  • Coronavirus Pandemic Response

Filing of a 10K Ayuda Bill to provide each Filipino household a one-time P10,000 cash assistance amid the pandemic

Legislation drafting a five-year economic recovery plan for the new normal to be adopted by presidential candidates

  • Labor

In his announcement of his candidacy, promised to focus on “finding good jobs abroad to creating great jobs at home; Survival wages to living wages; and Wealth for a few to upward.”

  • Education

Claimed the education programs of Taguig City could be used as a “blueprint” for reforms to push in the Senate. These include free education and supplies from preschool to college and state-shouldered cost of major school events, such as graduation programs and junior proms. He also said the government could pay for elementary school uniforms, bags, notebooks, and hygiene kits with toothbrushes, as well as medical and dental check-ups. Also proposed computer-assisted learning programs for Filipino students.
