Construction Worker Tries to Rob Mother in Cebu, Gets Caught and Jailed
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY – A construction worker was jailed after attempting to rob a woman resting in her living room in Cebu.
Robbery is a crime that involves taking someone else’s property using force, intimidation, or threats. What makes robbery different from other theft crimes is that it usually happens face-to-face, and there is often violence or the threat of violence involved.
For example, if someone grabs a person’s bag and runs away without the victim noticing right away, that’s usually considered theft or snatching. But if the thief threatens the person with a weapon or physically forces them to hand it over, that becomes robbery.
On Sunday (May 4, 2025), a 28-year-old construction worker ended up behind bars after a failed attempt to rob a mother inside her own home in Barangay San Vicente, Liloan, Cebu.
According to police, the man broke into the house while the 38-year-old woman was resting in her living room. Armed with a knife, he tried to catch her off guard. But the woman quickly reacted and shouted for help, alerting her son who was nearby.
Instead of giving in, the mother and son teamed up to defend themselves. Together, they struggled with the intruder and managed to overpower him despite the threat. Their thinking and courage led to the suspect’s arrest before he could escape or cause more harm.

After being apprehended, the man was handed over to the Liloan Police Station. He is now in police custody while authorities prepare the necessary charges against him.
The woman’s bravery prevented a dangerous situation. The incident emphasizes the importance of staying alert and not giving up.
