A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Tondo, Manila but his accomplice was still at large.
Motornap is when someone take a parked motorcycle without the owner’s permission. Sometimes it happens because the owner forgets to remove the key, making it easier for thieves to ride away. In other cases, the thief may forcefully take it.
Motornap is illegal and punishable by law. In the Philippines, it is a serious crime under the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, whether it’s a car or a motorcycle being stolen.

On early Friday morning (April 25, 2025), a man was arrested while his accomplice remains at large after stealing a motorcycle in Tondo, Manila.
According to CCTV footage, the suspect got off a tricycle along Jose Abad Santos Avenue and walked straight toward a parked motorcycle. He quickly hopped on and sped away, while the tricycle he rode earlier followed closely behind.
Thanks to the CCTV videos from the area, authorities were able to trace and arrest the suspect not long after the incident. The motorcycle’s owner admitted that he had accidentally left the key in the ignition, making it easy for the suspect to steal the vehicle.
The arrested suspect confessed to the crime during the investigation. However, his accomplice, who was believed to be the tricycle driver, is still being hunted by the police.
The suspect will face charges under the Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. Authorities continue to track down the other person involved to make sure both individuals are held responsible for the crime.
The police also reminded vehicle owners to always double-check their motorcycles and cars before leaving them parked, especially making sure that no keys are left behind. Incidents like this show how simple mistakes can make it easier for thieves to take advantage.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to locate the missing accomplice and recover any additional evidence linked to the crime.
