Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban returns to acting, and this is what she said about the story of BINI Sheena.
After 31 years of airing on free TV, it featured thousands of stories that broke hearts and inspired our lives. In 2022, Charo Santos bade farewell to MMK. The end of Asia’s longest-running drama anthology marked the end of an era.
The show has reaped recognition here and abroad and has given seasoned and upcoming stars a chance to portray extraordinary stories of ordinary people.
Recently, it has been announced that MMK is returning to share more compelling real-life stories of Filipinos. It will return with a bold new chapter as a limited series on iWantTFC, which will premiere this April 24.
MMK will have 13 gripping episodes across 13 weeks. This will be hosted by the iconic and award-winning host-actress Charo Santos-Concio. Marking its return will be the inspiring story of BINI Sheena, to be portrayed by BINI herself, with Angelica Panganiban. This also marks the comeback of Panganiban, who stepped out of the limelight in the previous years to focus on her life as a wife and as a mother.
In this episode, she will be portraying the role of Sheena’s mother. According to her, it has never been hard to accept projects from MMK, and it has always been a privilege.
The mother role given to her was something she felt connected with, as she is now a mother in real life. She also lost her mother, and after reading the script, she knew to herself that she could pull it off.
Upon returning to work, she had mixed feelings about being on the set again. She was on hiatus for four years. She was nervous, hesitant, and self-doubting, and had been overthinking whether she could still act.
She added, “Then of course, excited ako kasi ang tagal kong hinintay na makabalik sa acting dahil yun din naman talaga ang first love ko.”
According to her, she is taking it slow in returning to show business. She’s hopeful to finally work full-time again.
Regarding BINI Sheena’s story, here’s what she said, “’Yung kwento ni Sheena is very inspiring especially that it’s coming from love. Kung bakit siya nagpapatuloy ngayon, to inspire others na magtagumpay talaga. Lahat ng ‘yun kasi nanggagaling from love and inspiration niya sa pamilya niya.”
