Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Friendship w/ Sen. Imee Marcos
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President claimed that Senator Imee Marcos is different from her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
Countless people were undeniably surprised with the actions of Sen. Imee Marcos following the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The former Chief Executive was arrested by the Philippine authorities last March 11 and was sent to The Hague, Netherlands via Dubai.
Following Duterte’s arrest, Sen. Imee Marcos left the Alyansa Para Sa Pagbabago led by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The presidential sister who leads the Senate investigation on Duterte’s arrest claimed that the recent actions of the government do not match her ideals and principles in life.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos earned countless “betrayal” accusations over the arrest of Duterte. Malacañang defended Marcos Jr. saying that the government only did its job.
Amid the issue that created a huge gap among the Duterte and the Marcos supporters that were once strongly united in 2022, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte reaffirmed her ties with Sen. Imee Marcos. She also claimed that she’s willing to attend the Senate hearing led by the presidential sister.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also endorsed Sen. Imee Marcos through the viral “ITIM” campaign ad. Based on a report on GMA News, during an interview in Tondo, Manila, the Vice President was asked if she’s concerned on the possibility of being misled by another Marcos this election.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that Sen. Imee Marcos and Pres. Bongbong Marcos are different from each other. She cited an example saying that she and former Pres. Duterte are different, too.
“Magkaiba si Senator Imee Marcos at si BBM. Tulad na lang rin ng example ko—na hindi parehong tao at magkaiba din kami ni [dating] Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at iba din si Inday Sara,” she said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that she has known Sen. Imee Marcos since 2012. She also expressed her confidence on the work ethic of the Senator.
“Hindi niya pinapabayaan ang problema niya. Ang problema ng bayan, hindi niya pinapabayaan ang mga pangako niya. Nagbibigay siya ng solusyon at nag-iisip siya,” the Vice President said.
Aside from Sen. Imee Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is also endorsing Manny Villar’s daughter Camille’s senatorial bid.
