According to Jackie Lou, Pilita Corrales was prepared to leave.
“Asia’s Queen of Songs” Pilita Corrales died at the age of 87, and this is what Monching Gutierrez and Jackie Lou Blanco shared about her.
“She died in her sleep actually, which I’m very thankful for because, you know, hindi siya nahirapan, hindi na-hospital, hindi siya in lingering illness, di ba? Para sa akin, okay na yun.”
This is what Jackie Lou Blanco was grateful for, as her mother, “Asia’s Queen of Songs” Pilita Corrales, died without any suffering. At her age, she was already weak and had an illness, but she was in great condition before she died.
She had a heart problem, and her memory was declining, but her overall health was fine. They don’t know if she had an attack during her sleep, and they did not go further in knowing the cause of her death accordingly.
“Hindi na namin inalam. Basta she was sleeping,” said Monching.
They were just called at 2 AM and rushed to her home, and right there and then, they already had the feeling.
She knows that her mother made peace with her Maker. She knows how religious and spiritual she was. Her mother lived the best life, and she would be giving her a standing ovation for everything that she has achieved in the life that she was given.

Sen. Grace Poe honored Pilita with a heartfelt tribute underscoring her incomparable talent and enduring influence in the entertainment industry. She wrote, “Sa kanyang anim na dekada niya sa showbiz, nakatatak sa kaisipan ng mamamayang Pilipino ang kanyang natatanging istilo ng pagkanta at ang kanyang nakakahalinang liyad kapag tumataas ang mga nota.”
Charo Santos also has a tribute to the icon, whom she described as a legend and a force of nature. She added, “With every performance, she reminded us what it meant to be proud of being Filipino.”
Jericho Rosales has an emotional tribute to Pilita. He shared that her songs went beyond memory, and he was elated to meet the icon, someone who was special to his family, especially his mother.
