PAGASA Says Frontal System to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that cloudy skies and rain are expected over parts of the country.  

On Monday (April 17, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. A frontal system will affect the Extreme Northern Luzon.  

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that the frontal system will bring cloudy weather conditions and rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The easterlies will be affecting the rest of the country.  

For the rest of the country naman po, patuloy pa rin ang maaliwalas at mainit na panahon ngayong araw,” Torres said.  

The coastal water condition over Extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.  

Meanwhile, Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) station in Pasay City and Echague, Isabela and Sangley Point in Cavite fall under the “danger category” with a heat index temperature of 44 degrees Celsius.

The weather agency has also measured danger-level heat index in the following areas:

  • San Ildefonso, Bulacan

  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro

42 degrees Celsius 

  • Baler, Aurora 
  • Iba, Zambales 
  • Muñoz, Nueva Ecija 
  • Camiling, Tarlac 
  • Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac 
  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan 
  • Cuyo, Palawan 
  • Virac, Catanduanes 
  • Iloilo City 
  • Dumangas, Iloilo 
  • La Carlota, Negros Occidental 
  • Catarman, Northern Samar 
  • Zamboanga City 
  • General Santos City 
  • Butuan City, Agusan del Norte 

The combined effects of the hot temperature and air humidity cause discomfort to the public.
