PAGASA Says ITCZ and Easterlies To Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that easterlies will prevail over most parts of the country while ITCZ will affect Southern Mindanao.

On Monday (April 7, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The Intertropical Convergence Zone and easterlies will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that easterlies will prevail in most of the country, while ITCZ will affect southern Mindanao.

Due to the ITCZ we are expecting rains over parts of Mindanao and Palawan,” Torres said.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy weather conditions with scattered rains and thunderstorms over BARMM, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Palawan.

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“And for the rest of the country, the hot weather will continue, we expect this weather to last until the coming weekend,” she added.

According to Torres, no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone was monitored inside or outside the country’s area of responsibility.

However, Virac town in Catanduanes may experience a dangerous heat index of 43°C. The town hits the “danger” category for five consecutive days with its highest temperature reaching 45°C last April 2, 2025.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the eastern section of Northern Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate waters.

PAGASA did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s seaboard.
