Actor-comedian and politician Dennis Padilla appears to have rekindled ties with his children—Julia, Claudia, and Leon Barretto—whom he shares with actress-politician Marjorie Barretto. The emotional reunion happened during an intimate celebration for Leon’s 22nd birthday last April 2.
Padilla took to Instagram to share moments from the private gathering. In one photo, Leon is seen affectionately placing his arm on his father’s shoulder, symbolizing a heartfelt reconnection.
Another image showed the complete group—Padilla, his three children, and their grandmother, Catalina Dominguez—smiling together. The posts, shared a few days apart, carried touching captions. One read, “Love you anak… Leon Marcux,” to which Leon warmly responded, “Thanks, papa!” In another post, Padilla wrote, “Miss you mga anak,” expressing his longing and affection for his children.
Padilla and Marjorie Barretto were married in 1995, but their marriage was annulled in 2009. Following the annulment, their family experienced a highly-publicized estrangement. Over the years, Dennis has openly shared his hopes of reconnecting with his children, often expressing his feelings on social media and in interviews.
Signs of reconciliation began to emerge in 2024. During an ambush interview, Padilla revealed he received a short but meaningful birthday message from his eldest daughter, actress Julia Barretto, on his 62nd birthday. Then, in February 2025, both Julia and Leon greeted their father, further signaling a thaw in their once-cold relationship.
